In preparation for their debut at the upcoming NHRA Division 3 points meet in Indy, Ford Racing spent a day at Milan Dragway overseeing the test of the two new NHRA approved pushrod engines. Jim Ronzello (428cid) and Chris Holbrook (352cid) were testing their respective Cobra Jet's prior to competing at the Indy points meet and select NHRA races in 2010. A traditional 5.4 supercharged was also on hand for testing too. As shown in this video, testing exceeded expectations

In competition at the CJ Shootout the 428 was running 9.70's at 13X MPH. That's at least 700 HP.

@UltimateAero1287HP Yeah, Ford said it brother dont blame me, just repeating. And the thing is I doubt highly a veyron can do an 8.80 quarter mile, because traction becomes an issue. In my own opinion the veyron may get top speed, but I bet the cobra gets to 200 quicker.

@ELDK305 Are you kidding? then why didnt chevy use that in the Z06? while its a 7.0L its not the same as what the old vettes had...new engines using less displacement make ALOT more power total not just per litre than old school engines. not saying they werent sick back in the day but dude...go get a 427 BB chevy and see how much money it takes to make it play with a 6.2L LS3 and not be as reliable.
