Rick And The Ravens was the band Ray Manzarek was in before he joined The Doors. Because of his voice Ray was also known as "Screamin' Ray Daniels" (Manzarek's middle name is Daniel). "Rick" was Manzarek's brother. They cut a few songs that would eventually Doors songs in 1965 like "Moonlight Drive", "My Eyes Have Seen You", "Hello, I Love You", "Go Insane" (the early title of "A Little Game" from the "Celebration of the Lizard"), "End of the Night", and "Summer's Almost Gone". These were cut before both of Ray's brothers left the band and Robby Krieger joined in late 1965.

Notice how muddy this song sounds? It was because the studio and its producer did not have the technical expertise that Electra's Paul Rothchild possessed. Witness the Door's debut album recorded one year later over a scant 5 days time with many of the songs done in one take. What a difference a great producer like Paul A. Rothchild made.

Awesome song. I could imagine some group of 'Nam soldiers playing this while smoking and drinking beer in a Camp.
