I am 99% sure that this is the biggest apartment within the four councils of my region - the only other possible candidates are a neighbouring complex in this same suburb or a particular high-rise in Manly. There are a few other pretty large apartments in my council, with those housing 20, 30 or 40 bins for garbage alone. However, this massive development holds the prize for the largest with the 63 that are placed out here on Wednesdays... add the recycling bins and you have over a hundred 240Ls sitting outside this place!

The new medium-large apartments now use 660L bins for both recycling and garbage which makes the collection a whole lot easier! Hope you enjoy the footage of this shitload of bins getting collected by truck 166, check out the recycling videos, please rate and comment.

  • what i dont get is why the council not put there heads straight and say right we have various areas with more than 10 bins we should replace with 2-4 660Ltr bins it will be faster to unload and place back to the area dont you think? i have asked lane cove council same situations that some apartments in lane cove that have more than 8 bins should be replaced! thats why i like willoughby council they do that and i be meaning to get SMS RL collect the big cans!

  • @Superiorpakfan Yeh it's the logical solution to deal with larger complexes, but I guess the reason they have all these 240Ls is because everything was initially done with side loaders. Recently there was word about getting some 660Ls, but I doubt that will be happening anytime soon, because who's going to spend the money on all the new bins and where will the 240's go? We have a handful of monster blocks in Warringah, only a single new one has 660Ls...

  • @Superiorpakfan, the City of Maribyrnong (Victoria) has that option available. For all unit complexes that have more than 10 units, they can have the option of using either 660L or 1100L bins for both garbage and recycle. It seems to work fine that plan.

  • @tharealsteven Yeh Coffs Harbour runs a similar system to the one you mentioned, but now I wonder if it is a standard service for all apartments up there? I'd like to see a mix of both 660L and 1100L in Warringah, definitely worth it with some of the shitfight properties there are.

  • Some really young looking trash collectors. What country is this?

  • @MitchellM15 January 2009 i went on a nine day holiday to Coffs Harbour, yeah ive seen there waste service in action on Wednesday and Friday. There Organics is weekly but very few bins are out for that service, Recycling is alternate to there garbage service which means garbage is foughtnightly. SMS services aye, they look the same as the Coolaroo Raptors in Spakfans channel but says Coffs Coast Waste Service. You probally know all of that. Suprised they use 360 SSI for some recycling bins :P

  • this truck used to collect at my house except it was yellow and there was a grey one too

  • @Trashman242 Well just thinking, sometimes it revs constantly and other times it only revs if the packer is in operation - depends on the sensor positions around the lever. Don't have any footage of it at the moment, but may get something eventually in the future.
