Every July for the past 10 years I've had a party featuring a 250-300 pound block of ice. The ice is laid on a custom built frame at an angle, and then a "booze run" is carved into it. Liquor is then poured from the reservoir at the top to careen down the luge run to the waiting recipient.
The total real time for this carving took just over 6 minutes, it is played in quad time, with the last 20 seconds or so (the virgin run) played in real time!

  • how much are they on average

  • The price depends on what part of the country you are in. I've seen prices as low as $50, and as high as $104.

  • Look in your local yellow pages (hard copy or even online) and find "Ice retailers" or wholesalers. Start calling them and asking if they have, or know where you can get a 250 to 300 pound block of ice.

  • @txanders23 you could also just buy a big block of ice from walmart. they have them in the freezer with regular ice and just carve one in. i did it twice. major hit.

  • We use a router and run several lines. It's a whole lot easier and you can mix shots.

  • I just bought a 300lb block in Lonoke, AR. It is 20 minutes away from my house and found them in the yellow pages. Anyway, I bought it for $24 and a ice pick for $1.50.

  • Where can I get a block of ice like yours from?
