To the contrary -- I've actually met three people whom I first met in Second Life. If anything, I've become more social, and more open to creating things, learning new skills, and sharing the things I've made with others. I can't speak for any other virtual worlds that aren't as heavy on individual content creation, however.
However, since you imply that fat, thin, injured, or gay people can't achieve things outside of virtual worlds, I suppose responding to this is just feeding the trolls.
Lol that guy who said that they stay for the people is totally wrong, look at World of Warcraft HORRIABLE people in it and 10 million subscribers. Everquest on the other hand has great people and only about 400,000 subscribers.
