Early Words is a programme that will help you teach your child or pupil how to learn and quickly recall a basic reading vocabulary of high frequency words.

The Early Words programme teaches children at their level, one to one, in a short daily fun lesson where not only a basic sight vocabulary is learnt, but children learn how to learn. Teachers report that children who have undertaken the Early Words programme are more likely to be focused on and understand many conventions of print and work with more fluency when compared with children who have not had the programme.

Early Words is ideal for parents, teachers of five year olds or anyone working with learners who are at the beginning stages of reading.

This movie clip shows the full five minute Early Words lesson being taught by Yolanda Soryl.

  • Hi Yolanda I have started Early Words with a student. I notice in this lesson, he didn't do any writing. Was this a time factor?

  • @rtlit1 Hi Anne - in the part of the lesson where you do the worksheet, you can do a reading or a writing worksheet. He did a reading one so that is why there is no writing in the dvd. There is no time to do both and as Early Words is a reading programme, it is not so important than he did not do the writing as that is not the focus. Thanks for your question. Yolanda
