  • Err, who knows. Britten came from Lowestoft in Suffolk, which is by the sea.

  • Sounds like some of those sixteenth pickups in the "bearded ancient" section are drifting towards quintuplet sixteenths, like the Alleluia from "Rejoice in the Lamb."

    I love how "Time" totally draws on the English madrigal tradition. Morley's "Sing We and Chant It" comes to mind.
