During the Final Cruise I launched about a hundred Titleist into the Eastern Bank...the Air Boss started complaining when we were aiming for the traffic on the Western Bank ^..^ Great Ship, great Shipmates and an honor to carry her legacy through to the final day!

Yepper I was on board the America the first time she went through the SUEZ in 81, and yes we still had the steel beach pinic then, and two warm miller beers!!!!! Oh Yah party time it was. AMS3 Dan Simpson

@JPW1966. Nice little trip, huh? It was kind of strange; grass, trees, and people on one side, and nothing but sand, and old burned out tanks on the other. I was a V-1 "Yellow Shirt" in Fly-1 from 79 until 82. Later, Bro.

All I remember of this was the steel beach picnic they had on the flight deck. Good burgers till the huge horde of flies carried off the grill.
