Axis Technologies Group, Inc. conducts its business through a wholly owned subsidiary, Axis Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska. Axis Technologies, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets a proprietary line of energy-saving and daylight harvesting electronic dimming ballasts for the commercial lighting industry. The company's target market is small to large commercial users of fluorescent lighting including office buildings, wholesale and retail buildings, hospitals, schools, and government buildings. In 2002, Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approved Axis products for sale in both the United States and Canada. The Axis Dimming/Daylight Harvesting (DDH) ballast is priced competitively and is the only daylight harvesting ballast system that can be marketed as a replacement for a standard ballast.

  • I'm sorry, I have to correct my cost figures on LEDs. They don't put out as much light as I thought, they are still quite energy-efficient, however the initial cost would probably be in the neighborhood of 4 to 6 times more expensive than fluorescent. The initial cost of LEDs is still atrocious, hopefully that will change in a decade or so.

  • $50 per ballast sounds pretty expensive, I think that is very similar to the cost of an LED light that puts out a similar amount of light. I suspect the equivalent LED light would probably cost around $75, which is a higher initial cost, however the lifespan of the lightbulbs are much longer and to require much less power, which is a savings in electricity. Since it requires less power, you can also save money when building a new building, because less copper wiring is needed when using LEDs.

  • LEC (light emitting capacitors) also show some promise if they ever can become financially competitive. LEC, can be used, like paneling or wallpaper to give a real even lightning. Currently the costs are atrocious.

  • This is mostly old technology, that hasn't been fully implemented. I see a bright future in LED lighting. LEDs use much less power, create less heat and electromagnetic radiation, for the same amount of visible light. LEDs are generally safer because they are less likely to produce a fire than incandescent or fluorescent. However currently, costs is one of the major drawbacks to LED lighting, hopefully it will be more financially competitive in the near future.
