  • I get so tired of rich private sector individuals and corporations pretending to be "a grassroots campaign of ordinary Americans" and I'm even more offended that the tactic is so successful. This is true of George Soros as well as the "Swift Boat" folks and the current group, "Conservatives for Patient's Rights." Every person I know in Canada and Brittain (arguably the least effective examples of the dozens of universal health care coverage plans worldwide) is generally happy...

  • What is the age of a senior, when there are committees that determine whether or not you can see a doctor or receive care and the Rx that are prescribed? Maybe there are too few seniors left, or they are too afraid of the govt bureaucracies to say anything.Goodbye Granny Govt. Departments.I can fight with an insurance co. but not an overbearing govt. entity. The Vet. hospitals are a perfect example of incompetence and a death mill. My father died in that death mill b/c they wouldnt run a test

  • @TimeWarp66 So... instead of throwing people in prison when they don't have insurance and can't pay for their healthcare, adopt a universal healthcare scheme, but keep the private option open.

Instead of restraining your country and neglecting your people, you are free to go private when YOU injure yourself, instead of neglecting the people that really need it:

  • @TimeWarp66 Mate, you're still taxed. The only difference is that your government spends your money on nukes and black projects rather than the things that really matter... like universal healthcare. The fact that you still resist it is testimony to how plutocratic the US continues to be.

America constitutes 47% of the world's defence expenditure. You really need to get your priorities right... last time I checked, the Berlin Wall came down more than 20 years ago!

  • @Commingforyou These things that you mention have nothing to do with whether or not your medical system is socialised or not. They are because the experts were educated in your countries.

In reality, in the UK, NHS GPs earn more than American doctors.

  • @TimeWarp66 What do you mean "buy private?" Yes, the private option is there in the UK, but few choose to use it.

Now, I've seen private wards. Rich people choose to use them not for the difference in hygene or treatment standards, but because they are pampered to with the same sort of services that you would find in, say, a 5 star hotel... I'm talking chefs, waiters, single rooms. THIS is what they pay for!

  • @TimeWarp66 1) Taxation isn't theft as we get things in return. It's paying your contribution to society.

    2) You're a tool of big business as libertardism is anarchy for the rich.

    3) Piss off, stupid yank.

  • @AmersfoortTristan

    1) Taxation is theft.

2)You're a tool of the state.

    3) Congratulations.

England, while having many stupid socialist programs like the United States, is still a Capitalist country. Most goods and services are allocated through private market forces. It's just a matter of degree. The U.S is more Capitalist than England, but unfortunantly, not by much.

  • @BasilFawlty4444

We are ranked 37th in access, but 1st in quality of care. The problems of access are do to high prices which are caused by government regulations.

Public education and public libraries are disgusting shit holes. I don't want our hospitals looking anything like those. Theirs nothing "world class" about socialism. Why is it that wealthy Brits and Canadians buy private if you socialist medical system was such a utopia?

  • @TimeWarp66 And you really need to start thinking. According to the WHO's rankings, America is BEHIND the UK in provision of healthcare. Infact, you're not only behind, you're MILES behind - just above Slovenia.

Now, in the UK, all healthcare is "free at the point of use." This means that we pay out of our taxes, in the same way in the US your taxes also pay for schools and libraries.

So why why why is the US spending trillions on weapons when you could be providing world-class healthcare?

  • @TimeWarp66 You're confusing socialism with communism.

Socialism assuredly does work, and has worked for a very long time in the UK. If you asked a Brit what socialism is, they would probably point to the Labour Party or name names such as Tony Benn, Anuerin Bevan or Neil Kinnock - all popular and principled politicians.
