Note to our cousins in America:
Many people might have some complaint against the UK national health service, but the same vast majority would not see it destroyed. Only a minority of complete lunatics and elitists argue for its' dismantling, and do not say so publicly as they know the British people would fight to keep it. Do not be deceived by media spin.

One of the good points made in the movie, including Tony Benn.

You should watch this movie.

  • @Trustmeimastomach "The NHS does not do a great job. The opinion of general-None you-tube blogging-British people is overwhelmingly negative of the whole system..."

Pulling that out of your ass much? An American survey of health care systems of Germany, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, UK, and the US. Ranked the NHS first for efficiency and second overall. The US was ranked last.

As to your question, "Why are you entitled?" We're entitled because we ALL pay national insurance. lol

  • wee need more like tony benn in british goverment now days. wee are turning into america . this conservative selfish scumbag goverment is slowly turning the nhs into a private system. like america, where the ritch are ritch and the poor are dirt poor. revolution!

  • @MrGilles1990 - I don't think you're getting it. The NHS is "HANDS OFF," M'kay? And always will be. Go and look up some statistics about the number of people it employs and the size of the population of the UK.

  • @MrGilles1990 Anecdotal evidence is no evidence at all. Nice try... but *fail*.

  • @UnitedKingdomify I know the French and German system is better, because I have been there, first hand evidence.

  • @MrGilles1990 I already highlighted the flaw in the WHO statistics compared to the Commonwealth Fund review. Totally different criteria. Any kind of "scandal" isn't a reflection of the services delivered, of the satisfaction of patients, of the overall cost of the service...

... in short. You got nothing. You just *think* the French and German systems are better based on little to no evidence, which is funny, but also kinda sad. I'm not out to change your mind. You can be wrong all you like.

  • @UnitedKingdomify 12 year old statistics that are not likely change in the NHS's favour after the IT scandal or the amount of money and quality received ratio.

  • I think the point most people miss about British health care is that there is a private health care system if you want it. You don't have to go NHS. The concept of the NHS is to provide basic, frontline and necessary medical services for all that's what it does. Millions of Britains have additional private health care on top. It's not perfect but at least no-one in Britain has to lose sleep at night wondering how they will ever pay their medical bills.

  • @MrGilles1990 According to this criteria it rates worse than the German system in some areas, worse the New Zealand in some areas, but better in others. But overall, as universal/national health goes, the NHS is an excellent service and system.

Show me something that suggests the system is outmoded or outdated. Other than your opinion you haven't given anything.

You came at me with the "bollocks" ... I'm asking you to "prove it!" If you can't then... jog on. lol

  • @MrGilles1990 lol, I'm waiting on facts. How can I be losing anything when you haven't said anything!

I fail to see how you've highlighted anything that rates the NHS as a poor healthcare system when it comes to, as I said, quality, efficiency, equity, personal service, cost... in which it rates higher than all but the system of the Netherlands.

All you've done is state that the French and German healthcare systems are better based on twelve year-old WHO statistics and.... oh wait, that is it!

  • @UnitedKingdomify You are denying the IT-NHS scandal ever took place then?

And there is no need to go into Ad hominem just because you are losing an argument.
