I welcome anybody to my home city wherever they come from.
Quietman, it's obvious in the vidoe clip that some of the people interviewed could not possibly be from Liverpool or Europe even-accent gives them away ! That's all I'm saying. We are a celtic/anglo-saxon city with a few ethnic areas here and there ie: chinatown, toxteth.

I hope you received a better welcome in China than the one you seem to show to people coming to live in Liverpool.
You talk about culture as sharing but your attitude seems to preclude sharing with so called ethnic people. Many of Liverpool's ethnic population were born in Liverpool.
Liverpool's Chinatown has a beautiful archway and many new restaurants along Berry Street.

Was a massive seaport, most of the docks are now idle. Who says culture is about diversity ? You sound like a spin doctor for new labour. Yes,we made from the slave trade like many other cities of the world - can't change history - it was the way things were done back then. Liverpool's chinatown sucks,I don't care how old it is.I was in China last year, Shanghia, Beijing, Sanya, Harbin. Real chinese culture and real chinese food too - not the battered covered nonsense they serve up in chinatown.

Liverpool is a massive seaport. People from all over the world have been coming to Liverpool for centuries. Culture is about diversity in Liverpool. Liverpool was linked with Africa during the slave trade - that made Liverpool rich and has the oldest Chinatown in Europe.

They could also build places for the teenagers.

Ooh!
The people are soo nice though!
Well the ones I talk to are! they might not all be like them!!
If you seen CH4 TV programme 'The Secret Millionaire' recently (shot in Kensington Liverpool), you'll see what I mean. The programme was content to show the majority of Kensington folk happy to be on the dole, sitting aimlessly in pubs etc; ie, a reinforcement of a stereotype that the middle classes love to enforce

As a resident of Kensington and who was asked for contacts by the company who made the programme, I dont think it was a good indication of what's going on in the area, and the people who actually got the pitiful amount of money that was given away (£17k from a £60 millionaire) didnt strike me as representative of Kensington, they even moved straight out of the area when they bought the house.

Most people across the nation associate the football, The Beatles, the 'Irish connection', comedians and the sense of humour with the city but we'll probably see very little of that when it comes to the actual 08 year

you are probably right given we got the costings wrong on the new stadium (It was only out by about £9 million!)you tend to loose confidence in the city leaders. Mike Storey on roger phillips show described the short fall as a drop in the ocean comared to the full price of the scheme
