This is a smaller form of the modified Fuji Joule Thief circuit that I made to be portable. I can use this on various devices as it is held on with small neos and also uses my universal neo battery connectors and alligator clips. In this video I show it lighting a Lights Of America led bulb and a jug light I made using 200 leds. Very easy and cheap to make and very useful and handy to have around. For more information go to Overunity.com in the Joule Thief topic area. Caution: There is high voltage in these circuits, do not replicate or play around with these unless you know what you are doing. No electronic animals were injured during the building of this device.

  • I really like your resourcefulness in how you use the disposable Tupperware-type containers as a "project box."

Cliché: "Don't that just beat all?"

    Thanks for showing that.

  • @jmjpowerjoule

Thanks. These days, there is very little money available for experimenting so, like a lot of folks out there, I just use what is lying around. Sometimes it works out better than others, ha ha.

It would be great for that....this is one of the things I was planning on using it for.

    Thanks,

  • Have you done your longevity test? If so, how long did that battery last?

Another thought for you. Buy a solar garden light...I have 6 of them I got for $3 each US, and they use a rechargeable AA....you can even put a higher mA hour bat in there instead, and leave it outside during the day and then take the battery inside for your light. Much easier because they already have a charging circuit built in to them. Plus, you get the solar cell, and the battery and the circuit and a nice straw hat led all for the three bucks.

The led light in this video would be perfect for that. Just use a rechargeable AA or, do like I do and get "dead" batteries from your friends. when their digital devices say the bats are dead, instead of tossing them out, have them save them for you. That is what I do and i have over 100 AA bats that will light my lights for many, many hours....for free.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • I've built many of these circuits before but always want to set one up in one of my rooms so that I have light at night and it recharges by day from solar panel. The AA or a C battery should recharge quick enough if i use a big solar panel with a voltage regulator. Then I'll have free light!
