Koto (Japanese 13 string Harp)The artist was visiting from Japan and was busking at Salamanca Market to promote an event the following day.I felt so privileged to hear this.Wish the recording reflected exactly what I heard.

  • i love the japenese harp

  • It is pretty special.

  • Yeah, me too.I had never seen anything like it.

But judging from all the protection on Sakura's fingers it must be a beast to play.

  • the protection are pics for plucking

  • I'm glad she is wearing them, she makes beautiful music.

  • Koto is not a harp, but rather a zither. It sounds more like a harp but it is not one.

  • I don't think so - I suspect arthritis. Her hand is wrapped on the last three fingers. The picks are on thumb, index, and middle fingers. The Tsume (picks) are from the Ikuta school of playing (most Koto players use this type of Tsume). The right hand is not what has the problems it is the left that requires more strength.
