I would never have dreamed that Joan Baez had recorded this song. It was a favorite of my mother when it was sung in the 40s and 50s on the Grand Old Opry. She was very religious and had fed so many "tramps on the street" during the Great Depression, this song never failed to bring tears to her eyes.
