Yes, you CAN be truly connected to someone without being gay, it's just that Kirk and Spock aren't those kind of people. They're clearly fucking each other whenever they're not on camera.

I'm not sure if I like this or not
I think a better story would be that S kills K and loses the will to live, no suicide thoughts tho. Bones tries to save him, but cannot. As he is dying, Spock remembers his *brother* Kirk, just as he did here. Bones must then continue on his journey through life alone.
*That* would be good. Still, even though most of this video I didn't really like, because I'm pretty sure Starfleet wouldn't punish him like that, I liked how he thought of Kirk as he lay dying
