when I dyed my hair red with manic panic I bleacked my hair before also and my hair came out jeffery star pink lol. I was mad because at the time I really didnt like pinkgh. So all of you watch out for manic panic if you decide to try it. Their products are really hit and miss. I did the dark blue color they had and it came out a smidge darker than the pic leah has for the purple MP dye. It faded to the same color though

I love special effects. I tried Manic Panic in ultra violet and it faded in 2 days. I tried re-dying and left it in overnight and it still faded quickly. I gave up on it and ordered Special Effects in Wildflower. It is a gorgeous color that is purple/blue depending on the lighting and it stayed in so much longer

This was REALLY helpful. Now I understand why my dye isn't as vibrant or why it fades super fast. I used the pink you used and it was gone in 3 washes and I JUST used a purple where all the dye washed back out and didn't stay on my head. I see now that it was the hair washing thing. Thanks so much for all of this. I think I'll be able to do a much better dyeing job now. :)

We use the same black hair dye, lol. It is the only black dye that colors my hair, and it's my favorite too.

Have you've ever used the Splat?

Do you have to bleach it to get the color to work or is there an alternitive cuz i dont want to use the bleach cuz it sounds really damaging
Thanks for the advise on not washing the hair before dyeing! Im definately going to try it. One question, how about bleaching? Does it make any difference if the hair is just washed or not?

@0MissNemo0 I'd say do the same thing. If you wash it before bleaching, it'll be dry (again, no natural oils) and bleaching dries it out a lot. So it could really damage your hair to bleach right after washing.

I don't know if you can answer this or not, but I've been wanting to dye my hair either lavender or a light, almost cotton candy, pink. What brand would you recommend? Thanks so much! c: <3

@BirdCageSmiles I would recommend that Manic Panic Cotton Candy Pink, then. Because it definitely gives the color that you're looking for with that =)

What do you use to bleach you hair? I aplied peroxide once, but I believe my hair gets a lot of damage. Is there another product I could use? or something I can manage at home without spending time and money at the beauty saloon?
BTW I once tried Ultra Violet from Manic Panic and it comes out like a horrible greyish blue, but now that you high lighted the brand that you use I might get it! :D

@KioshiDhampir Yes, actually. There are bottles of bleach cream activator and packets of bleaching powder you can get (Sally Beauty Supply is the only place I know of that has them). They're pretty cheap and last a while =) Or you can get bleaching kits from Hot Topic, Sally Beauty, or even Wal-Mart for $10-$13. Follow the directions on the boxes and you'll be able to do it just fine from home =) If you're not sure what to get, ask someone who works there for advice =)
