The Blackmar Diemer Gambit is one of the most aggressive lines that white can play as it gives up his king's pawn as early as the 2nd move in the game and then looks to also give up his king's bishop's pawn. White does this to have an advantage in development and keep the black king at bay while white punishes black for his lack of development

  • 4:48 "Alot of times if you play this alot of black players are going to look at you and think your retarded." HAHAHA :)

Btw those who say this isn't a good opening.

This opening has the highest winning percentage (49%) of all white openings and is ranked 2nd place only to the Queens gambit.

  • Thanks a lot. I also hate the Scandinavian, so you saved me from one of my worst nightmare against my 1.e4 openings!

  • one word nice

  • a nice move at 7:42 would be knight to b5 followed by knight to c7 which checks the king and attacks the rook

  • Good for attacking opening but not to defense

  • Any reason not to like Scandinavian opening?.. Personally I like the fact that Black Queen gets out so early to grab the exchange pawn on d with no real purpose. And more often or not in blitz games, I get opportunities to develop my minors while attaching Black queen in Scandinavian..

  • i like how at in the video at 5:09 white brings the queen to e3 :)

  • i just made a twitter at which i will post games, tips and developments of the BDG.

@BlackmarDiemer, follow if interested, it will have regular updates.

  • I try to do all this openings agains the computer but it always plays defence and it always throws me off

  • from "How to Beat 1.d4" by J. Rizzitano: "Despite its almost universal condemnation by titles players, the BDG continues to be supported by a thriving community of Internet User groups, magazine articles and e-mail theme tournaments. I don't know if these passionate gambiteers should be praised or condemned, but I do know they should be left alone" Case closed.

  • no strong players play this opening because it sucks!

  • @dekulewan what is your source for this misinformation?
