So...this little mechanical device had us stumped, but I think I found an application for it!

I build pool cues and started looking at this machine and figured that it would aid me in when I'm ready to place a ferrule on a blank pool cue shaft.

I have no idea of the original application or the true name of this machine. If anyone can provide insight as to what this is really called...perhaps a brand name...and the true application, I would love to know.

Essentially I would say that this machine takes a rod and reduces the diameter concentrically.

  • I wouldn't let that butcher machine near a beat up house cue let alone a custom shaft! it's worse than a horror flick!

  • @poolfool31021 - Trust me.. I make custom pool cues, and this was designed wonderfully. It has a conical receiving end so that the sides of the shaft are 'nestled' into place... no marks afterwards. : )

I have since mounted it to it's own stand, and attached a drill to control the action. much smoother.

  • oh my god that was scary i almost couldnt watch...

  • It's a Taylor Cue Machine. they make 2 sizes of cutters for it. parts can be found at Saunier - Wilhem Company 1-800-284-5751

  • LOL Well, I also build cues. You found the correct application for it. It"s a tenon machine, and has been used in the billiard industry for cutting tenons on housecues, although It could have been adapted from elsewhere. I Started out with one of these things a long time ago but have long since upgraded, and sold It to someone starting out. The one I had would trim the outside of the ferrule down too. I think the brand of Mine was a Taylor, but I remember seeing the same type with another name.
