VPR is in the North East corner of New Mexico and is a 400,000 acre private ranch. On the property there are numerous lakes and small streams that are loaded with trout. This series of clips is all filmed in the lakes where the big fish are. Most of this also centers around underwater shots such as releases, etc. However, the last clip is of a big cruiser that was swimming right under my tube. He was not afraid and he was not hungry either. I did not catch him but it was cool watching him ease around in the clear water below me. Also, notice the fancy left handed casting in the first clip. This was out of necessity because the wind was blowing hard over my right shoulder and I had already whacked myself in the back one good time with the weighted streamer.

  • You got it. The Go Pro is pretty cool and a lot of fun. I love shooting the underwater footage with it.

  • There are a dozen or so lakes and ponds there and they all have fish. 20 inch fish are very common but it comes with a price. There are also some very fun small creeks that flow through there with much smaller average fish. You can catch them pretty regularly up to 12 to 14 inches and they are great during hopper season.
