Whats up with the drummer, everytime i see him hes got his shirt off.

God damnit, I love this guy. He straight up said the reason they're popular is because people in the states & Europe have bad taste. And Mark knows what he's talking about when talking about, his solo album is absolutely brilliant.

@regaltip8A FYI, Mark wanted EMI to drop him and the band. He sabotaged their videos, made an album they sued him over on the grounds it wasn't a commercially viable album (its one of their bests) and he berated EMI in the press.
By the way, Mozart didn't make much money and wasn't popular when he was alive. He died a debtor and was buried in a paupers hole and no one came to the funeral. The point is that just because some artists don't have your values, doesn't make their art less value.

@regaltip8A "income from royalties is down to zero." you're joking right?
-
Level 42 are the biggest pile of steaming shit imaginable - no wonder they're Helen Chamberlain's (Soccer AM) favourite band.
-
I'll vouch for Talk Talk being popular in the States, we stole this band.
-
My point was that a lot of these artists think it will never end so it gives them the right to give this type of attitude. The presenter was just trying to do his job.
Good band but in the end they got what they had coming. Dropped by EMI and goodnight. As for royalties and the don't give a shit attitude that is the view taken by people that have made no money from music and live week to week. The same people that said Phil Collins sold out, I am sure his 50 mil in the bank eases the pain.
-
@regaltip8A , the fans don't give a shite about royalties, and I don't think Mark Hollis would either, given (as wiki says) he refused to sacrifice artistic ambition to commercial success. The one exception would be when Gwen Stefani butchered one of their songs. A sad moment, but Mark would have got a lot of royalties from it.

@regaltip8A I did a search here on Youtube for Level 42 and I guess I shouldn't have made the remark about them as I did, I only remembered their one hit in the 80's and haven't followed their career. You're right, they are good musicians. They aren't my taste and I don't agree with the rest of your comments about Talk Talk, but Level 42 is definitely more than their one hit so I agree with you there. I don't think artist royalties has anything to do with quality of their music.
oh he is such a sweet guy...
