Semi-Automatic Rice Noodle Machine

The objective of this project is to modify the conventional hand driven rice noodles machine into a semi-automatic machine, so as to increase the productivity. It can be used in cottage and small scale food industries with out much man power involved in the preparation of noodles. The motor speed is decreased in the gearbox to increase torque. Using a threaded rod and a cylinder the rotation of gear box shaft is converted into the linear movement of the cylinder. The motion of the cylinder is guided. The bottom end of the cylinder is connected to a ram, which enters the die cavity and pushes the rice billets against the die. The rice billets are loaded manually into the die. The noodles are then cut into pieces of equal size. The noodle machine which we have designed and fabricated consists of the following main parts:

1) The structure which forms the base of the machine and supports all the other parts.
2) The motor and gear box which gives the required torque which is responsible for extrusion the food billet.
3) The threaded rod and cylinder which converts the rotation of threaded rod to linear movement of the ram.
4) The cutting unit which cuts the noodle into pieces of equal length.
