Named after its versatile pickup configuration (3 pickups paired with a 5-way blade switch), the NF3 utilizes the modern pickup technology of PRS NarrowfieldTM pickups. NarrowfieldsTM use the same wire as PRS's coveted 57/08 pickups, but are narrower pole-to-pole and deeper front-to-back. The result is a new sounding pickup system with exceptional clarity. Paired with a "pattern regular" bolt-on neck and flat body design, the NF3 is a modern classic.

Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.

V12 Finish
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for us and a hallmark of our quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The new "Pattern Regular" neck shape is similar to the traditional PRS regular neck found on guitars made in the late 80's at PRS's former Virginia Avenue location.

Pattern Regular Neck Skape
This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows us to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce our necks.

  • Lovin this NF3; how would you compare the sound to the DC3? Are both the same price? Are you going to carry the DC3?

  • @segdoh75 The NF3 narrowfield pickups are dual coil they have more output and sound a little fuller. The NF3 guitar also has a treble enhance capacitor on the volume knob to bring out more of the single coil sound. The DC3 pickups are a true single coil pickup. In my opinion the NF3 is a more versatile guitar.

  • @NstuffMusic

And how would you comjpare the sound to the 305?

    Thanks!

  • @FlavioBrinck Fuller than a 305. The 305 pickups for the most part sound like a traditional Fender single coil, whereas the NF3 are still thicker

  • What's the range on the tone knob?

  • @SfordRog It has a good range.
