"High Ridin" Heroes" written by David Lynn Jones. Recorded by DLJ and Waylon Jennings on the 1987 album "Hard Times On Easy Street"...lyrics

Daylight or midnight, Red eyes and that old hat
Whiskey spent and busted flat and a credit to his flaws
Hes a bad risk and a good friend, Hes small change and loose ends
And he only regrets that he mightve been a little faster on the draw

Hey, those old high riding heroes. Theyre anywhere the wind blows
Hes been to hell in Texas and he knows how it feels
To be riding that hot streak or drunk on some back street
Falling off the wagon and under the wheels

(WJ) 1:20
Time was when he was king, now the rodeos just an old mans dream
The highs are few and far between, the lows get the rest
But these old hard times aint nothin new; Once youve done the best you can do
You just tip your hat to the wild and blue and ride off to the west

Yeah, those old high riding heroes, Theyre anywhere the wind blows
Hes been to hell in Texas and he knows how it feels
To be riding that hot streak or drunk on some back street
Falling off the wagon and under the wheels

  • Whatever happened to David Lynn Jones.

  • @44Snyder As far as I know bothhe and his wife still perform some small intimate settings. He was forced to stop recording after a couple stole his identity several years back and were collecting all his royalties. They were caught either a little over a year ago. DLJ said he never stopped writing so he has plenty of material to record again when this whole mess gets settled if he chooses to.

  • David Lynn hit #14 in Billboard, 6-18-88. Don't be offended by this, katson, but, God bless! I'm a Christian, it's how I end all my comments.

  • @DaveWollenberg Goodness no, that doesn't offend me whatsoever. It's actually very sweet and thank you for the added information

  • Wow. I hadn't heard that song in over 20 years. Thank you. It has magic.

  • @fourojas You are so welcome. I love this song. I'm so glad you found it. Hopefully David Lynn Jones financial matters will soon be squared away and we will hear more music from him. It's been way too long. He's a great writer!
