According to the report, one of the 14 rounds Officer Jessop fired hit the suspect in the back, killing him.

"The investigation of the shooting was completed by the Missoula Police Department. The investigative team all testified Tuesday (April 13, 2010). John Pohle, the Powell County Coroner presided over the inquest.

Missoula Police Department Lt. Steve Brester led the investigation.

'My opinion is that Mr. Davis purposely put his .41 magnum into the face of Officer Jessop with the intention of kill-ing him,' Brester replied. 'Officer Jessop had no choice but to respond with lethal force.'

The jury agreed unanimously." *

  • It's obvious the driver tried to shoot at the cop, he should get the death penalty.

  • @rich0319726 Actually, one of the last rounds the officer fired hit the driver in the back, which killed him rather quickly, hence the vehicle hitting the telephone pole.

  • Holy crap! Nice response officer, you were lucky!. After ya realized what was happening. Light em up, Instance justice O.K. as far as I can see, wish ya had more rounds to try and kill that son of a bitch.

  • @rich0319726 He actually did after one of the rounds hit the driver in the back killing him rather quickly, which is why the vehicle ran into a telephone at the end of the video. Further details can be found by following the link to the news story at the bottom of the video description/details (below the video).

  • 0:32 the guy could have killed the cop, he points the guy directly in the cops face but does not shoot yet.. a couple seconds later he shoots out the window while driving away, i wonder if he was trying to kill the cop or not? either way the officer seems justified to respond the way he did

  • @honestskeptic

It's hard to hear it, but there is a *click* when the guy pulls the trigger while he's pointing the gun at the cops head, because that particular round had already been fired.

  • That cop is so lucky the gun didn't fire at first.

  • dang that was a close call for the cop... enpty the clip on him empty the clip!!!!!

  • nice shooting! Nice reflex! That cop did what he had to do, and shooting at a moving target through objects after having a gun misfire in your face and hit the man...excellent shooting

  • @needpowershots wow really? a cop almost gets shot in the face, and when he backs away the man fires another shot to try and shoot the cop again, when the cop turns around he shoots the man for defense. And you can still find a way to try and insult a cop, how disrespectful can people be. Trust me if that cop would have shot a tire that man would of came out trying to shoot someone...again. So shut up, the cop did what he needed to do and he did it very well might i add

  • @chunky7003 the suspect was hit in the back and it killed him

  • @rich0319726 keep reading, one of the rounds hit the suspect in the back killing him...

  • Some one tell me that this Cops guardian angel was at his side that night. If the first round woud've went off , he'd be dead.

  • Boom boom, out go the lights! There had to have been a ton of crack in the van or something... you don't try and kill a polite cop for a traffic stop.

  • the guy had a revolver and the chamber was empty, when he chambered the next round the cop had already gotten out of the way, thats how he survived

  • This is why people get shot by cops.

  • @JediMaster362 Glock 22 is a 40cal. and the drunk guy's gun jammed. (I jams as he sticks it in the cop's face)
