Just a training video and tricks I put together today. Sorry for the bad quality. But whatever. Also, pay attention to the words that show up and the hand signals I do, lol.

Please note that Ty and I have over-come so many obstacles. In regards to the collar I use on him, it is called a "Herm Springer Pinch Collar", if you have no idea what it is or what it does, do not comment, please. However, I'll explain some of it. The pinch collar as it is formally known as is a set of prongs that are positioned against the dog's neck.

The collar is usually one finger loose which allows for movements and breathing of the neck. The back of the collar features a chain like link which your leash attaches to. (see pics on google or something). When the trainer pulls back on the chain, it gives a slight 'pinching' effect against the dog's neck. Note that the lower part of the neck, where the pinch collar sits is NOT the most sensitive part of the neck. Just below the gullet is actually the most sensitive, if you don't already read Cesar Milan. I use this pinch collar because my dog has behavioral problems that I find difficult to correct in a traditional choke collar. The pinch collar is much more effective and doesn't allow the dog to choke himself accidentally.

Also, please note that the amount of pressure you use on the collar is so slight that the chain barely even moves against the neck. Think of a leverage bit on a western horse, if you will.

Anywho, Ty and I have successfully completed Novice and Advanced Obedience under the eyes of a Master Trainer. We have also competed in two Rally-O's and won both. I have successfully gotten this dog more rehabilitated than he was when we received him from the pound. He is still very nervous and has major aggression issues, but nothing compared to before. Before he would drag me and my mom into people's yards to get at other dogs so being able to walk past other dogs is a huge accomplishment. I am very proud of his progress and continue to work with him throughout his forever stay in my life and heart.

Feel free to comment but rude, inappropriate, animal activist comments will BE deleted. Just for future reference! =]

If you don't know about it ,don't comment on it! =]

Thats all.

  • Good boy, Ty, and great handling from you! Congrats on your achievements. Your appropriate use of the tool = a happy, obedient dog. I don't see one iota of fear, aggression, etc like what all the anti-training collar crowds talk about. Ty is absolutely beautiful.

  • Thank you very, very much! I don't walk him in the pinch collar anymore, I am even more happier to report! He goes in a nylon collar now. =]

He is a very happy, healthy dog and loves his life!
