A nice reminder of the composer, who wears better for my money than any saxophonist who ever lived--Hank Mobley. What a misfortune that no video appears to exist of him anywhere. I couldn't catch Hank live until the '70s, and he was fried and incoherent (even after 1965 he starts to lose it). But 1955-1965 the personification, the essence of melody, inventiveness, and soul is Hank Mobley.
I love "where" Vincent Herring plays things on the time....such solid lyricism ..and Yoich kabashi is burnin and Anthony Wonset has that older Wynton Kelly/Red Garland root in straight ahead bebop....great vid. Thanks!
