Nicks P.O.V.

I was sitting on the patio texting Miley when Joe started talking again. Damn he could talk so much sometimes.

"Its like, we dont even know her."

"Yes Joe, its such a hard life, right? You have a girlfriend and a nice home and a family in perfect health, while she has a father that might be dying from cancer and she has to leave her whole life to come stay with us. But poor you."

"Were you just being sarcastic?"

"No, of course not. Really Joe, its ALL about you."

Joe glared at me and turned away. Finally that shut him up. In truth, although I would never say it, I wasnt really looking forward to having a stranger come live with us either. I mean, its been just the four of us for years (besides the constant close friends that come here a lot too). And I didnt like change. But just like I did to everyone else, I would accept the new girl with open arms and an open heart. Arent I the sweetest?

"Im justafraid."

I took a deep breath. If Joe kept talking about this I was going to have no choice but to duck tape his mouth shut until the new girl left.

"Of what? A 17 year old girl?"

"We dont know what shes like. She could be a serial killer for all we know!"

"Call me crazy, but Im pretty sure shes not a serial killer."

"I bet she is. And this whole thing with her dad is a story to get her into our home."

"Joe, no one would make up a story that sad to get into our home to kill us. She could just use a gun and pick us off while were in the front yard or something."

I couldnt believe I was actually having this conversation with him.

"Hey, I dont know the mind of a serial killer! Some just get their little fetishes in a sick, twisted kind of way."

I stared at Joe for a moment before I sighed and stood up. I did a little stretch and looked across the street at Mileys house. She had told me she wanted to come to the airport with me to come and pick up Ashley. I agreed. Everything with Miley just seemed better to me. She was sweet and nice and funny and outgoingall the things I wanted in a girl. Did I love her more than a friend? To be honest, I wasnt sure. I guess I would just have to wait and see.
