From her 2004 album "Under The Munka Moon"
Alice Russell is a British soul singer. Born in 1975, the daughter of an organist, she grew up Framlingham in Suffolk and sang in choirs before studying art and music in Brighton from 1994.
Between 2000 and 2004 Russell contributed to recordings by Bah Samba, Quantic, TM Juke, and Nostalgia 77. She released Under The Munka Moon on the Tru Thoughts label in 2004 followed by My Favourite Letters in 2005[2]. The first recording collected some of her early works along with new material and was named after a soft toy monkey mascot called Munka she has owned since childhood.[1] She performed internationally and in 2008 released Pot of Gold for Six Degrees and worked with Mr Scruff. In 2009 Russell performed at the South by Southwest festival.
