Landlords in West Kent are fed up with bad tenants

Some landlords are refusing to let their property anymore after disasterous tenants. Even if tenants are violent it is a job to evict them, even when they don't pay their rent or make the place in a mess. There needs to be a Bad Tenant register so other landlords can avoid having regular bad tenants. It should be made much easier to remove bad tenants. Evicting them after six months, is simply not good enough. Landlords should have the right to get their property back within 2 months not six months or a year! No wonder landlords are giving up renting, which doesn't help the Government find homes for people.

Landlord Committees, that's a good idea even if is an 'underground network'. I have income protection so that should cover me for some of my income, so why can't they do that, nah, they want spend it on their car or holiday etc! I was a tenant, I paid my rent and kept it tidy.

In the states, we have in places landlord committies. Granted I doubt it is legal, but they stick in a group and notify one another of black listed tenants, as you describe. I personally don't see how hard it is to clean and pay rent. I will say, I've had my problems with landlords hiring idiots for repairs, I had *gallons* of water leaking through my ceiling and into the living room. Her mistake, but did she pay for the damages? Nope, lol. So I guess we take the good with the bad, ya?
