Death row prisoner Troy Anthony Davis was convicted for the '89 killing of an off-duty police officer. There was no physical evidence to prove him guilty and some witnesses who originally identified him as the murderer have since recanted. And now a federal judge in Georgia has rejected Davis' claims of innocence. Christopher Chambers, Georgetown University Professor and author of the blog Nat Turners Revenge, explains how there is no evidence and discusses how this system could be fixed, if it even can.

  • that interviewer ikn pt2 kis FIT?

  • The justice system worked and the guilty man was put to death. Found guilty which is hard to do but being eye witness testimony convicted him. Witnesses recanted because they were afraid of the community. This woman not educated enough aboyut the case. She should learn how to read a transcript. Guilty because he was the one who did it. Read the transcript.

  • russian television why dont they research the millions executed by the russian govt in their past. dont take with what they have to say with a grain of salt

  • @pierneus nope they were too busy sticking a needle into a killers arm.

  • It has been claimed -- in The New York Times and Time magazine, for example -- that there was no "physical evidence" connecting Davisto the crimes that night. Davis pulled out a gun and shot two strangers in public. What "physical evidence" were they expecting? No houseswere brokeninto, no cars stolen, no rapes or fistfights accompanied the shootings.I suppose it would be nice if the shell casings from both shootings that nightmatched. Oh wait -- they did. That's "physical evidence." 34 witnesses

  • It's nearly impossible to receive a death sentence these days -- unless you do something completely crazy like shoot a cop in full view of dozens of witnesses in a Burger King parking lot, only a few hours after shooting at a passing car while exiting a party. After a two-week trial with 34 witnesses for the state and six witnesses for the defense, the jury of seven blacks and five whites took less than two hours to convict Davis

  • @millerlois23 Oh crap, I just flew on Delta Airlines, and drank a can of coke, and when I got off the plane I ate at Hooters

  • This guy is either an idiot or misleading on purpose.

IN ANY APPEALS COURT THE BURDEN OF PROOF SWITCHES FROM THE STATE ONTO THE PRISONER TO PROVIDE NEW EVIDENCE THAT WASN'T LOOK AT IN THEIR TRAIL. The theory on that is they dont want to repeat the same trail over& over again. So unless some new evidence comes up, the first verdict will stand. Troy Davis offered NO new evidence, the "recanted" witness's were barred from testifying BY THE DEFENSE TEAM.

  • @sonbarably you are obviously a racist.
