Boiling mud pot on Mt. Lassen, an active volcano in the Cascade range in Northen California. The bubbling sound is from the mud boiling in the pit. Looking directly down into the pit only steam was visible.

  • Looks more like a fumarole.

  • @frotz661 It may very well be a fumarole. I just say boiling mud pot. It's probably not mud. The hole may be filled with lava or volcanic ash but it was boiling hot and bubbling.

  • how this mud pot get hot,,,

    what temperature degree

  • Mt. Lassen is an active volcano, part of the Ring of Fire, so this mud pot is one of it's many vents. I don't know how hot it is, just that it's too hot to touch.

  • No. Not me. I have a great deal of respect for nature. This particular mud pot is right along the road, which is where I was standing when I made this video. :-)

  • Please don't tell me you crossed that barrier to look at the steam...
