Drop Squats starting with double leg. Progress to two legs dropping onto one. Then one dropping onto one. Should make a little pop sound when you drop.
This exercise is to teach proper landing mechanics for jumping or plyometrics. Athletes tend to get injured on the landing not on the take off. Proper body mechanics are crucial.
Start with 3 X 10 with DL, 3 X 10 DL-SL, 3 X 10 SL-SL
Once you have mastered this movement move onto Box Jumps. However, Drop Squats are a good way to stimulate your nervous system and can be included into a dynamic warm up or before a sprint workout.
