Some times it happens that you think cam is on but when the precise moment arrives, you find it off !!! And then the nervousness and the gruesome battle to get it on. And in the due process almost missed the King.

More than 2 hours late, WAP5 India's Fastest Undisputed King 12001 Bhopal New Delhi Shatabdi zips past Lalitpur.

The raging machine P5 GZB 30027.

I had to sadly witness some animals getting crushed at this high speed station. The MPS sign board at Lalitpur shows 115.

Bhopal Shatabdi is fully air conditioned and the fastest train in India. The train commenced service in 1988 and was the first Shatabdi train to be introduced. The train runs at an average speed of 93 km/h (excluding halts), touching a top speed of 150 km/h on the 195 km Delhi-Agra stretch, which is the fastest for a train in India.

The first Shatabdi Express was flagged off between Gwalior and Delhi on 14th November 1988, which was later extended to Jhansi and later on extended to Bhopal.

Fridays, used to run with old ICF rake. From 20th May 2011, LHB rake on Fridays too.

Bhopal Shatabdi is hauled for the entire route usually by a single WAP5 AC electric locomotive from the Ghaziabad shed.

12002 covers 701 KM in 7.50 HRS, average 93 KM/HR and 5 halts.

12001 covers same distance, same time, same average and halts.

12002 departs NDLS 06:15 and arrives BPL 14:05.

12001 departs BPL 14:40 and arrives NDLS 22:30.

  • @moksh62 Thanks

  • Is there any plan to start Bullet Train service in India anytime soon or not? Rest of the Asia's way ahead in Rail technology than India now though we have the largest rail network in the world... :-\

  • @UnhappyDreamer Railways have identified six routes as possible high speed corridors for running bullet trains at the speed of 250 to 350 km per hour. The official said that "While we have undertaken the feasibility study of Pune-Mumbai-Ahmedabad route, the next route to be taken up for similar study is Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar sector.”

  • @UnhappyDreamer Japan Prime Minister has offered his country's expertize to introduce the run of bullet trains in India. National High Speed Rail Authority, a first of its kind in the country is being planned to execute the high-speed rail corridor plan.

  • @UnhappyDreamer IMO, we don't need bullet trains. What we need is passenger trains capable of 200 km/hr. Don't forget the sheer volume of people/goods the railway moves - we need practical solutions. Bullet trains are good to have - increasing the avg speed of Indian trains by 50+ km/hr will be a bigger achievment than launching few bullet trains for the elite.

  • @UnhappyDreamer neither we hv largest rail network, v r 4th in world, n plan is on for bullet train from ahmedabad-mumbai-pune, check out wikipedia....>>>

  • Amazing.. Thanks for this so important information...
