Opera Australia's new production of Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes directed by Neil Armfield opens at the Sydney Opera House. Peter Grimes is played by Stuart Skelton, who here sings the moving 'Now the Great Bear and Pleiades'.

A co-production with West Australian Opera and Houston Gran Opera

  • This production still wipes the floor with every other performance I have ever seen. An amazingly real, true to life, believeable performance, with a depth of characterization hardly ever seen in Opera.

  • this is just beautiful theatre above all and such a consuming experience for the cast and the audience. just one of those life affirming nights at the theatre. great vision here.. thx

  • @stamman2 Purposely so.

  • To date, this WA Opera / Houston Grand Opera co-production as staged in the Sydney Opera House by Opera Australia is the most moving, powerful and wonderfully performed/produced opera I've seen to date. No overblown staging to distract from the music/libretto and world-class performers top-to-bottom (no pun intended). Bravi to all involved!

  • Hmm, what I hear does not coincide with what I see on this video...

  • I was in the sydney version and it was truly amazing.Peter Grimes(stuart skelton) was fantastic.
