The presented method for measuring knee angles, using body-fixed sensors
can be a good way to make accurate measures of knee joint angles. Also
it can be easily modified to measure angles from other parts of the body
like the elbow. The key features of the design are its reduced size and
its capability to work wirelessly. The size of each board is about
30x30mm. The range of wireless operation has been tested successfully in
ranges from 10 to 20 meters. In tests, accurate measures have been
achieved. The mean error of the measures of static angles oscillates
between ±0.5deg and ±3deg. respect to the real angle. Looking at the
standard deviation of the error, it takes values around ±0.3deg. So,
error is mainly an absolute error, hence it can be corrected in part,
using mathematical functions.
