10:00 pm sheriff trujillo ran a red light ... after four state police officers and two a-p-d officers were trying to track him down because his license plate didn't match his county vehicle. there's traffic, and he proceeds through the intersection. state police say sandoval county sheriff john paul trujillo is driving this ford expedition - when it blows through the red light. officers say it started around 9:30 this morning on i-25 in the construction zone near tramway -- where state police noticed the s-u-v's license plate - from california- didn't match the vehicle. state police say trujillo was tailgating - passing on the right - and speeding. there were times when he was exceeding 80 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour construction zone. trujillo says he was going much slower. sometimes below 50, and sometimes 55 - because it's a construction zone. trujillo says he was going to a delayed accident near san pedro north of alameda -- east of the freeway - but state police say

10:01 pm he turned west on alameda instead ... making his way to the balloon fiesta parkway ... 10:27 what we're seeing is things that are indicative of him trying to evade police. state police say this is the first time officers turned on their lights -- at a stop light on san mateo at alameda. after trujillo pulls over - state police say he waits about three minutes before coming out to identify himself. trujillo says he explained the situation - and the case is closed. 08:45 i'm glad they stopped. if it doesn't come back to a plate, they should stop it. at that point the officer is like well maybe he is and maybe he isn't. so, no he wasn't ticketed at that point .. could he be ticketed? obviously he ran a red light and exceeded the posted speed limit. but state police say they're looking into whether there really was a crash in the area. if not, the chief says the sheriff could still be cited. state police say it's not unusual for law enforcement to use out-of-state

10:02 pm plates for undercover operations. trujillo says they're more difficult for criminals to trace. reporting live from san mateo and alameda, mm ewn4. this isn't the first controversial incident involving sheriff trujillo and an officer with another agency. in 2006--- a bernalillo police officer says he found trujillo parked in his sheriff's vehicle with a strange woman hiding in the backseat. the officer claims the s-u-v was rocking ... and when he approached ... trujillo was putting his pants back on. sheriff trujillo denied it all -- and said it was all part of a smear campaign by his opponent.

  • Fucking Bull shit... I hate seeing videos like this. Cops need to be ticketed more often. I have had so many cops tailgate me then pass on the right and speed off going like 15-20 mph over the speed limit with out having their lights or sirens activated. P.S. I live in the D.C. area.

  • Sounds like a crooked ass Sheriff.

  • @politicjunkee What's wrong with a Yaris?

  • @willieboonewi First of all I would never put my family in a Toyota Yaris. Secondly, I think you missed my point. My point is, there are laws on the books to be enforced that create revenue even if there are no victims. This is called a "Police State". Which unfortunately, you and I live in. I'm not saying all cops are bad by any means. However, our local, county and state law enforcement is more militarized then they were even 20 years ago.

  • @politicjunkee Since when is running a red light and/or speeding is victimless? When someone is speeding in their F350 and runs a red light... and t-bones your family in a toyota yaris, when you find out that he has no insurance, who do you think is going to foot the medical bills or pay for the funeral? Tickets, while there's no denying that they are money makers, they are also deterrents. If cops stopped giving out tickets for running red lights, i'd run them all the time!!!

  • @Spadadiforza It looks more intentional too me when someone runs a red light and goes 25+ over the speedlimit and then throws his arms up in disgust at the officer that pulled him over.

  • Meanwhile, your house was getting broken into, your wife and kids were being raped and someone shot your dog. Victimless crimes pay more folks!

  • @god604 True, he didn't turn his lights on....no one is perfect in following policy 100% of the time. I know plenty that break traffic laws to get their job done. Yes he represents law enforcement but it doesn't mean he doesn't make mistakes. He is a human being....it means he is prone to make a mistake.

  • jhon paul is so dumb when my dad ran for sheriff we had to meet him be cuz our dad made us do it out of respect

  • Its not unusaul to have out of state plates when your working for drug cartels, making millions of undocumented cash...
