This is my first run after completing and assembling all parts for my Hyde generator. (Sorry for the darkness and blurriness. The original was much better.) It's basically a honking big high voltage capacitor but with a high speed rotor and some stator segments in between the capacitor plates. The rotor chops the electric field between the plates and the stator segments and any excess energy is taken off the stator segments. @field16 The best I could do was around 5200 RPM. The radial slits cut into the disk cause too much friction for the motor to go much faster. Also, I think that the forces involved coupled with the level of vibration put the glue holding the segments to the disks near the limit of its ability to hold the segments to the disk. So, I need to make whole new disks in some other way. For now it's on the shelf while I work on other approaches. Thanks for asking.

This is a fascinating set of experiments and I see you put so much work into it. What is the current status? I went to your website and see no update since you installed your bench grinder. Did you ever get up to 6,000 RPM?
