very well spoken Mr. Zimerman. Much respect.

Zimmerman not playing in america because of the politics is very saddening. I feel that had his pianos not been destroyed he may not have made the same decision.

Wars created by cowards and arming criminals.... The 2 pianos, brutally blown up by some ignorant imbecil gorilla at the JFK in 2002, are just a little piece of the mosaic. What a wonderfull world, artist and interview.

Thank You pianovirus for that treasure. Mr. Zimerman is so fantastic artist and as I recently discovered He's also fantastic person - with sense of humour and modest; I think too much modest. But not only in USA he have problems. Every time he organise something in Poland, there are problems with stupid people who don't respect artists f.ex. poor organisation of concerts or last Chopin Competition prize for best sonata. By the way I'm impatiently waiting for his 2013 album with Chopin sonatas.

Thanks a million Pianovirus.

Thank you so much for uploading this interview. You know, I came across it by an accident (was just listening to some piano on youtube), and it I enjoyed this interview tremendously! Thank you!

it makes me sad i will probably never hear him in person

Thumbs up if you listened to all the five videos continuously.

Sadly, you US guys didn't throughfully listen to him.
The 2 pianos, brutally blown up by some ignorant imbecil gorilla at the JFK in 2002, are just a little piece of the mosaic.
He repeatedly said that the most important thing for him is the relationship with the audience.
When he says "politics" he means those things that, as of now, are expression of you as the people of United States.
He just doesn't want to play his art for someone that he thinks does not deserve it.
I am sorry, save it.

Thank you so much for posting! Great artist, good interviewer too! Were Zimerman's pianos at or near the WTC?
Pianovirus - many, many thanks for posting this! It was a pleasure to listen to him having his way explained. Extraordinary man in every sense, a great artist ... and what a sense of humour!

You're welcome, Qumak13, and I fully agree with your comment! Regarding his nice humour: I saw him recently live in concert and as encore he started to play the 1st mv of Moonlight sonata, but let it "evolve" into Happy Birthday (because a friend of his who was attending had his birthday that evening) - it was wonderful!
