Foté Mogoban - Djeli Moussa Diawara [Yasimika (Abidjan 1982)]

Recorded in Abidjan in 1982, Djeli Moussa's 1st album was acclaimed as great "tradi-modern" music and thus, released multiple times till mid-90s. Charlie Gillett, the famous BBC presenter and musicologist, who distributed himself these 4 tracks on his "Oval" label, complained in December 2009 that they'd been unavailable for too long...
Fortunately, CybearSonic, a French new label, was able to get access to the original master.
This song (as well as 3 others) was then fully restored and remastered from the 8-tracks tape for your listening pleasure and is available as part of "Yasimika (Abidjan 1982)", released last October.

@magdelanye Hi. First, the music in this video comes from the remastered version of my 1st album, that was released in 2010. Then a new album was a released on 1/1/11 called "Yekeke (Paris 2010)" and some tracks are available here on my YouTube channel, with plenty of live videos from concerts...

I got this when it was called "Music from West Africa" by Jali Musa Jawara in1991. It was brilliant then and still is!

I love this I bought the lp in about 86 and saw jail musa diawara live a couple of times in about '88 searched for the cd for years in the 90's it's fantastic to me that you can just listen to this on YouTube the best music I've ever heard
