islamists want islamic shari'a law to reign over everyone which includes lashings and executions for free speech, beatings for women who dont wear a veil and for homosexuals to be killed, THATS barbaric.
i think you are confusing Islamists - who want islam to rule everything and everyone by their decree.
with
ordinary Muslims - who follow islam but dont want to force shari'a or any other bronze-age laws on people if they dont want it.

in western countries, there are 4 main players in the affairs of religion.
Christians - greedy but they deny it.
Islamists: not greedy but incredibly savage and barbaric.
Scientologists: like christians but greedier and more fanatical.
and
Agnostics: non-religious people just trying to live their lives.
