During our trip in New Jersey, my Dad found his Second Cousin Richard's old Victorian House. This 2,240 sq ft home was built in 1890 and it is now abandoned, owned by Rowan University, and soon to be demolished. :(

Well those big old houses just into a point of disrepair and structural problems that it is simply safer and cheaper just to tear it down and build something new. Sad but true. The outside may look pretty good but structurally they have big major problems and if you don't have multiple 100's of thousands of dollars to throw into it, they get torn down.

i remember being in high school seeing college kids super trashed at that place.. they tore down everything else on the block

It is sad to see what happned to that place. I remember it as a kid. The college would have preserved it but the college kids that lived there trashed the place. It sucks to see classic places like that go.

I sure hope they don't destroy this beautiful old home, what a gem it is for restoration! It just seems so wrong the way that this country (at least the one I knew) seems to be disappearing before our eyes.

Thats the old Phi Kap house/Whitney Mansion....I don't believe the school will be tearing it down. I think they will be re-building/preserving it. Thats why its the only house left on the block now.

Demolished? Why? I think the gentleman standing at the end should stand like that when the bulldozers show up. Ha ha
