ECCOTA serves rural Elk County, PA and is often the only avenue for cultural experiences for the residents unless they travel 2-3 hours to larger cities. ECCOTA currently resides in an old office/storefront in historic downtown Ridgway it has occupied since 2003. The ECCOTA gallery is used for the display/sale of work by local/regional artists but the beautiful artwork shares a home with old, stained carpet and broken tiles, ugly dropped ceilings, and insufficient lighting. This grant would allow ECCOTA to modernize the gallery space by installing new wood flooring and new lighting system with integrated smoke alarms, removing drop ceilings to reveal and restore original tin ceiling, upgrading the HVAC system, enlarging exhibition space, improving existing apartment to become administrative office. Deliverables--Modern, upgraded gallery space worthy of the artwork it contains; Grand re-opening reception highlighting local artist works, 200 attendees.
