After dinner, I forced myself up the stairs, gripping the railing as firmly as my body would allow. When I finally reached the top of the staircase I made my way to my room and crawled into bed. My body ached with new pains that made the old feel ten times worse. With every breath I took, my rib cage ripped apart, or at least it seemed that way. It happened like this all the time though so maybe I deserved all of this. I guess I had it coming to me.

My brothers are just looking out for me. They're just trying to make me a better person I suppose. These thoughts kept roaming around in my mind until finally I drifted into sleep.

The next morning I woke up, still incredibly sore. I heard a knock on the door and in came Joe. I immediately sat up straight. "Hey Ally," he greeted with a smile, which was very rare. In fact, I didn't even know he knew how to smile. "Do you have my report?" he asked looking around the room.

I got to my feet and walked over to my desk. I took the folder out of the bottom drawer and handed it to him. "Thanks Al," he said with a grin and walked out into the hall. Well that was weird, I thought to myself. "Allison!" a raspy voice called from downstairs. "This breakfast isnt going to cook itself!"

I sighed as I threw my hair up into a messy bun and headed down the stairs. "Morning..." I mumbled as I entered the kitchen. "Eggs, scrambled," Kevin ordered. "Same," Joe said taking a seat at the small, round table. "I'll have some toast..." Nick muttered as he walked into the kitchen, taking a seat beside Joe. At this rate I might as well become a waitress--oh wait, too late.

The kitchen was filled with an awkward silence as I prepared the food. I felt as if I was being watched, which wasn't exactly abnormal considering I felt that way all the time. Once I finished the eggs and the toast was ready I brought it over to the table. "What the hell is on your arm?" Nick asked disgusted. Of course he was talking to me. I glanced at my arm as I took a seat in between Joe and Kevin.

"Oh um, just a bruise I guess..." I mumbled casually. "A beauty ain't it?" Joe said as he admired his work. That was just like Joe to admire his "works of art" as he called them. I looked down at my little bowl of cheerios stirring the spoon around trying to ignore Joe's comments. I could feel Nick's eyes burning a hole in my arm as he examined the forming bruise. It made me feel uncomfortable having him eyeing me like a hawk.

"Can I get something for you Nick?" I asked trying to distract him from my arm. He blinked then looked up at me. "Uh no..." he trailed off. Joe and Kevin looked at him, then each other and shrugged. Everyone was acting so weird this morning. It was beginning to scare me.
