Nokia N79 Keypad Issue

My phone was working quite well up until a few days ago. Now, the only button that works consistently is the power button. In the discussions forum from Nokia two other people have said they also have the same problem.

Is this a common problem among Nokia N79 users? Oh and I have the North American version if it helps anyone. N79-3

Hey guys, my replacement phone's display died on me shortly after using it for about 4 months. I've switched carriers and now I have an HTC EVO 4G. I'll come back to Nokia once they make a cdma phone compatible with Sprint's service.

I have the same problem!!! my phone stoped working yesterday with this issue. What do i do?

@Born2Die83 I sent my phone to a repair center. They fixed the problem. Hopefully, you're still under warranty and you can do the same. Call them.

Is this some sort of manufacturing defect that's common among Nokia phones? It's quite strange that so many of us have had the same problem with our phones.

I sent mine to a Nokia repair center and they replaced it with a new one. I fear this new one might do the same thing as the old one.

It is a keypad problem. 2 Solutions

1) replace the board behind the keyboard (flex board)

2) Remove the keyboard and behind the flex keybord there is a black square IC remove it as kind as you can and problem solved.

I have the exact same problem..like in your video. Even the unlock key and any other keys doesn't work. Only the power button works. Any solutions that worked(software fix)? Or was that a hardware problem? I guess it might be a hardware problem, bcoz trying other options like formating doesn't help. Comments please??

@ejdren how do you change the sim card with a cdma phone? How do you roam in countries that only have the GSM (like south africa)? Anyway, come back to nokia when that have a decent windows phone!
