I remember him on tv back in tthe fifty, at the end of each show he would talk to the kids. I for one took in every thing he said and tried to live my life by his words. The one I remember most, he said kids don't call policemen cop, cops or copper always say sir or mr. policeman. To this day I hate when someone saids cops

i am reading the book now thanks .but why ruin a mans rep ?when he was a true hero and a legend to some growing up and allways set a good example to kids even if just on tv .God knows we could use good morals now

@BANDAGMAN1 You need to read the Gene Autry Autobiography "PUBLIC COWBOY #1 . It not only talks about Autry's drinking but his womanizing as well. He was SOMETHING ELSE off screen.
