This video is an attempt to rehabilitate Lois DeFleur's image. Sure, she made many positive contributions to Binghamton but she was harshly criticized in Hon. Judith Kaye's independent report on the basketball scandal. It's stunning that there is no mention of the basketball scandal in this video or the lessons learned.
really? as an alumni, the biggest effect of president defleur's tenure at binghamton i've experienced is that now when i tell people where i went to college, they respond with questions about the basketball team scandals. thanks so much for that, ms. defleur. it's shameless to glorify achievements whose means and motives have become dubious in the light of other events that are conspicuous by their omission. transformational leadership indeed.
Wow. I can't wait for Part 2, where you discuss Ms. DeFleur's legacy as it pertains to the greatest scandal in university history. That's going to be amazing!
Look, President DeFleur did lots of the things this video depicts. Good for her. But it's fairly ballsy thing to have someone going on about what she did for the reputation of the university and NOT mention the fact that her name is now forever tied with the worst blows to the university's reputation in its short history.
