The first draft of Kingdom Come performed by Shaun Groves just after it was written.

Lyrics to the first draft of Kingdom Come:

Kingdom Come
Words & Music by Shaun Groves

Verse 1:
Oh, God what do we see and hear
Your kingdom coming
Oh, God why do we bleed and fear
Your kingdom coming

Let it come in us
Let it come through us-

Chorus:
'Til the sword is spared
And the bread is shared
'Til the dying's done
Let your kingdom come
'Til the rich ones give
And the poor ones live
'Til the weak are strong
Let your kingdom come

Verse 2:
Oh, God what do we pray down here
Your kingdom coming
Oh, God why do we slave through tears
Your kingdom coming

Let it come in us
Let it come through us-

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3:
Oh, God what do we pray down here
Your kingdom coming

Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
Your mercy come
Your justice come
Your will be done through us on earth
Your healing come
Your peace will come
Your will be done through us on earth

  • hey shaun i saw you in service 2 day @ church its brittanie i sat by amy carlisle i love your music!!!!!!

  • This is a great song, both music and lyrics! Like I have said in a comment before (you probably haven't seen it because it's probably one of the million comments you get everyday :P), you're singing voice is a voice I wish I had (as I feel like God is calling me to be a singer), though I know my voice doesn't sound like your's at all! :)

But, keep doing what you're doing with your music for God! :)

  • Shaun this may sound over the top, but this is one of the greatest songs I have encountered in my lifetime. I'm reading The Hole in our Gospel and this song crystallizes what I hear Christ saying to the church in our time...I'm a husband, father, pastor, and teacher. If I had to put into 5:50 what I want my family, church and students to experience & know before I go to heaven, I would use this song, literally.

Thank you. I hope it's the anthem of a generation that heals God's amazing planet!

  • WOW! Shaun Ive missed hearing new stuff from you. This is really fantastic. What a great gift God has given you its good to see you using it for His Glory.

  • is this on a cd? I really like this song but i can't find it anywhere online!!!! :)

  • we sing this in my chapel in college...

if all Christians would hear this song and live by it. We'd drop the pettiness and do really live preparing for the coming kingdom, as Christ calls us to do!

  • Shaun... that your finished draft isn't a release yet is a federal crime, punishable by... ah, who are we kidding. It was blessed torture hearing such an amazing, anointed song last night at Manley in "Morristow" and not being able to hear it on my iPod today. Bless you, my friend. Keep them coming... we hope to see you again very soon.

  • Shaun, I absolutely love this song. I told my kids, this is the most anointed song I have heard in a long, long time!
