The PostureJac is a training tool. It teaches your trunk how to maintain stability while being involved in activities like sitting, bending, and lifting. When engaging with it, your spine feels very protected. The intention is that you learn and get conditioned to become part of your habits.
Thanks for the very good question. Most people imagine that they have to wear it around like that to get any benefit. Not true!

The purpose of this exercise is to keep the lower back stable and still while you learn to bend at the hips and not the waist. Bending at the waist when sitting or standing is one of those repetitive strain injuries that causes low back injuries in the first place.
This exercise builds strength in the hips and core - part of the rehab needed for low back pain.
