And in India, a large bear sanctuary is giving lending a helping 'paw' to bears that have been abused or abducted by poachers. Here's more:

STORY:
The Agra Bear Rescue Facility has been set up for bears rescued from poachers and traffickers. The factility was set up in the middle of a bird sanctuary, and is the result of a collaboration between Widlife SOS, the Wildilfe Rescue Organization, and the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department.

All of these organizations have been fighting a battle against the brutal practices of bear poaching, cub trafficking, and forcing bears to dance in public.

[S.P. Raja, Veterinary Doctor]:
"Right now we're having 284 rescuers who are engaged in Fatehpur Sikri area and other parts as well."

The Wildlife SOS organization has also taken a different approach to tackle the dancing-bear issue. They're offering bear poachers alternative job training if they turn in their bears voluntarily.

Now some tourists are even visiting the sanctuary.

[Christine, Tourist]:
"I first saw a film on the television at home about this sanctuary and the work they were doing and when I knew I was coming to India I was hoping to come here and see for myself. I was very upset and very emotional after seeing the film and the work they're doing is amazing and I will try to do some work to raise funds when I get back for this sanctuary."

Presently there are over 275 rescued bears that have gone through facility's 90-day treatment, where they are given a check up a rabies vaccination.
